Description
The MSS Optical Swing Barrier Turnstile is a sleek, single-lane, cost-effective solution for controlling access to secure areas. Designed for both functionality (optical sensor tracks flow like a turnstile) and aesthetics (looks slim like a gate), it allows users to pass through quickly and safely, ensuring smooth, silent operation with minimal power consumption. Its modern design, available in stainless steel or white finish, seamlessly integrates into any environment, making it an ideal choice for office buildings, retail stores or any entrance requiring gates. This gate features an acrylic panel that is normally held in a locked position. When triggered by an external signal from an access control system, the barrier swings open to allow passage. Users can be granted access through the turnstile by using a compatible reader (sold separately). The MSS also includes built-in sensors to detect a person passing through and can be programmed to automatically open upon exit.
The standard configuration includes a clear acrylic barrier, but a stainless steel hoop option is also available. The MSS is available in both stainless steel and white finishes, with custom powder-coated colors or vinyl wraps available upon request to match any design aesthetic. Additionally, the barrier is offered in two sizes: a standard pedestrian lane and an ADA-compliant width, ensuring versatility for different space requirements.

- Barrier arm can be pushed open in the direction of egress with less than 5 pounds of force when the locking mechanism is disengaged.
- When connected to the Fire Alarm System the barrier will open and remain open in the direction of egress to allow users free exit during fire emergencies.
- During a complete power loss the gate barrier will go slack and will be free to open with the push of a hand. If code required, systems can be set to open the barrier in the direction of egress in the event of a power outage.
